when Paul Hunt dismounted I felt weird

A blog video response to Kacy’s post When Chen Fei Screamed I Felt Weird:
I think it’s been long enough since the Olympics that I can mention this. I heard that Chen Fei Paul Hunt is really good and stuff but this is the only part of gymnastics that I watched and it made me feel really uncomfortable. If I knew Chen Fei Paul Hunt I might say, “So, uh. Why did you do that?” but probably I would never ever speak of it. Not a great video of the actual scream dismount(s), but this was all I could find. I guess most of the world is like me and wants to pretend it never happened.–Adapted from Every Day I Write the Book, by Kacy
(Ummm…did I mention I stole this from Kacy?)

That takes serious skill (and you know what else…)

I couldn’t watch the balance beam video. I was too afraid.
There were probably half a dozen times I thought, “Ouch.” “Ouch.” “Ouch!”

(Umm…balls?) It may have been unusual, but I still laughed. I thought it was great.

Seriously. When my 17-year-old played these for me I thought I was going to pee my pants. I LOVED it!
My two favorite moments (you know, besides the rest–and you really should check out his floor routine):
The Tinkerbell pose on the unevens.
The upside down splits on the balance beam.
Now matter how you look at it, that is some serious athleticism and well, um, I do know what else.

That’s GREAT! He’s brilliant and an obvious athlete–and he’s got a fantastic sense of humor. I laughed my head off.

It was a good move to shave the moustache. Ecch.
And he’s a homeboy! From Murray!

So I’m not sure I felt weird about Chen Fei, at least no more weird than about any of the other chinese women.
Love Paul, and love that he’s from Utah. Thanks for helping me laugh on a dreary Monday morning.

So funny! I felt uncomfortable for a minute too, but it sure made my morning.

So funny. But I will say what everyone is thinking. . .I’m thankful that the video has a bit of “bright light” in just the right places. . .I didn’t want to see anything I shouldn’t. . .but the under the beam splits was a nice touch. . .

I hadn’t seen the balance beam one. Love it! Love how he’s chewing gum so brazenly, too.
