so way back when i was in college and i had to complete an english major by typing all my papers on a typewriter and using white out for the mistakes and i had to walk all the way up 9th east from centennial apartments uphill both ways in four feet of snow…

there was this football team that was pretty good.
they went undefeated and were national champions.
i was there.
i actually helped order the national champions t-shirts before we even knew if we would be the champs because i worked at the byu bookstore in the sports department at the time and was in charge of the very first year of vending t-shirts and apparel at the games and we wanted to have the shirts ready to go as soon as we won the game.
it was a great year.
and we saw some great football.
but tonight–on the 25th anniversary of this national championship–i was there for what may have been the best byu-utah game ever.

the battle did not happen between the bands.
it went down on the field.
i yelled my voice out.
we played our hearts out.

and we won!
in a nail-biter overtime.

and there was much rejoicing!

I can’t believe all those people!
I remember watching that game–back in ’84.
How awesome you got to be there…BOTH times!
